Turin-Bath PhD Workshop in Applied Probability and Statistics

The event aims at gathering PhD students and young researchers from the University of Bath (UK) and the University of Torino (Italy), and from their closest scientific partners. The purpose of the event is to promote scientific knowledge exchange in the respective fields of research and to foster potential new collaborations.

The 3-day workshop will feature some introductory-level short courses held by senior faculty, contributed presentations delivered by PhD students and young researchers, and possibly some round tables for open discussion on topics of particular shared interest.

Short courses
The short courses will be delivered on the following topics:

  • Alexander Cox, Stochastic control of measure-valued processes (University of Bath)
  • Stefano Favaro, Exchangeable random partitions, and Bayesian nonparametric estimation of the unseen (University of Turin and Collegio Carlo Alberto)
  • Emma Horton, Introduction to Kalman filtering (University of Melbourne)
  • Kari Heine, Sequential Monte Carlo – introduction and modern applications (University of Bath)
