How are SOEs regulated within the multilateral trade framework? What is the legal and economic impact of Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs) containing provisions directly regulating SOEs? This webinar aims at answering these questions through a legal and economic approach.
Dr. Carlo Maria Cantore, Dispute Settlement Lawyer at the World Trade Organization, will provide an overview of the legal provisions applicable to SOEs in the GATT/WTO legal framework.
Dr. Luca Rubini, a leading expert on the regulation of subsidies under WTO law and EU law and author of the book “The Definition of Subsidy and State Aid: WTO and EC Law in Comparative Perspective“, will discuss SOEs regulation in PTAs.
Dr. Michele Ruta, a Lead Economist in the Macroeconomics, Trade & Investment (MTI) Global Practice of the World Bank, will address the economic impact of PTAs commitments on SOEs with a special focus on Chinese SOEs.
Prof. Annamaria Viterbo, Associate Professor of International Law at the University of Turin and Law Fellow at Collegio Carlo Alberto, will introduce and moderate the discussion.
