Mario Pagliero was Professor of Economics at the University of Turin and a Fellow at the Collegio Carlo Alberto.

Following his BSc in Economics from the University of Turin, Mario continued his studies with an MSc in Economics at the University College London, and a Ph.D. in Economics at the London Business School.

After a short period as an Assistant Professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Mario came back to Torino, where he remained throughout his career.

Mario's research was in applied microeconomics, spanning across the fields of industrial organization, labor and public economics. He was a sharp and critical thinker, who brilliantly combined theory and empirical research to understand and explain real world phenomena. He also was a key player in the growth and development of both the ESOMAS Department and the Collegio Carlo Alberto. He enjoyed playing golf, skiing and mountain hiking.
