OEET Seminar – Chinese innovation system, internationalization and dynamics of the semiconductor industry
Abstract. The global race for semiconductor dominance is likely to shape the technology and innovation capacity of states in the years to come, especially of the US and China. The presentation will analyse US’ and China’s semiconductor supply chains along with the most recent policy actions and interventions aligned with national strategic objectives such as the US’s Chips Act and China’s technological autarchy. Strengthens and weaknesses of the two countries’ production systems and industrial policy efforts are discussed to enable the more up-to-date assessment of the geography of the global semiconductor supply chain. The position of the European Union is also considered.
