Strategies and Drivers of Circular Eco-Innovations: The Framework of Italian Firms

Abstract: Circular eco-innovation plays a crucial role in improving the sustainability and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Italy. This study examines the link between circular eco-innovation and SME performance through statistical surveys based on ad hoc questionnaires. By incorporating circular economy principles into their business models, SMEs can enhance resource efficiency, minimize waste, and generate sustainable value. This research analyses the economic, environmental, and social impacts of circular eco-innovation on SME performance. Through a review of existing literature and empirical analysis, we identify the key drivers and obstacles influencing the adoption of circular practices. The findings underscore the importance of targeted policies and incentives to facilitate this transition. Ultimately, this study provides valuable insights for policymakers and business leaders, supporting the shift of Italian SMEs toward more sustainable and resilient business models.
