“Pensions: Thinking Forward”
Organized by CEPR Household Finance RPN, Fondazione Collegio Carlo Alberto and ESOMAS Department, University of Turin
Pensions make the newspaper headlines throughout the world, no matter how they are organized. In the UK, dramatically higher yields in September 2022 generated mark-to-market losses for pension funds. In France, a 2-year increase in retirement age for state pensions started social unrest. In Italy, low productivity and population growth are reducing the margins for the announced pensions reform.
Against this international background, this panel gathers international researchers involved in policy-making to discuss improvements in pension design. It will consider the households’ point of view, both current and future.
Opening remarks:
Giorgio Barba Navaretti, Collegio Carlo Alberto, University of Milan and CEPR
Panelists:
Elsa Fornero, University of Turin and CeRP-Collegio Carlo Alberto
Mario Padula, University of Venice and CSEF
Stephen Zeldes, Columbia University and CEPR
Moderator:
Monica Paiella, Parthenope University, INPS and CEPR
